Shirley Roma Charlton


Shirley Charlton emigrated to Australia from Malawi Central Africa as an international artist and professional tutor. With numerous exhibitions, awards and sales to her name, she has in addition judged several shows. Her original paintings are in considerable demand and her love for the sea and water comes through in her transparent watercolours.

With her ability to paint from the heart she is helping people in Malawi. All the funds from the sale of her paintings go to Papalala za Ongwala (On Eagles Wings). On Eagles Wings provides help to those in hospital and prisons without food, as well as helping to adopt orphans into Malawian families, dig new water wells and many other projects. https://www.facebook.com/wingsofmalawi/

Aside from painting Shirley has taught courses and workshops with Adult Education and holds a Certificate IV. She has demonstrated and taught painting for many schools and institutions, including the USQ McGregor Schools, and the Watercolour Society of Queensland. Shirley has had articles on painting published in the Australian Artist Magazine and the Quest Magazine overseas.
